Boyish was a digital publication that examined contemporary masculine norms in Indian diaspora. I produced the publication from 2020 to 2022, publishing over 20+ editions, and reaching well over 1M+ readers.
Gender stereotypes affect everyone. But while several initiatives are underway to elevate marginalised folks, the boys in India have been left out to fend for themselves under the assumption that the male gender is always at an advantage. Fewer than 5% of organisations in India who care about gender-equality run programmes that work to improve boys’ attitude and behaviour. With Boyish, My goal was to open an honest dialogue about masculinity in India, and offer a place where discourse was possible.
As part of the project, I produced a children’s book titled "ZardoZi, Stitched With Love". The book won the "Best Comic Graphic Novel" award for the year 2025 by FICCI India. You can buy the book here.
I poured my heart into the digital experience of this project. Boyish website was featured by OnePageLove for its design, and I was selected in CUNY’s Entrepreneurial Journalism Program for the Summer of 2022.
